| The nearest airport is the Capital, Sofia. There are daily direct flights from Gatwick (Bulgaria Air), Heathrow (BA),
Luton (Wiizzair) and Manchester twice a week (Bulgaria Air). There are regular charter flights to Sofia or Plovdiv from most other major UK cities during the ski season (see balkanholidays.co.uk). Bansko is currently approximately 2 hours drive from Sofia, although the main road linking Sofia with Kulata on the Greek border is in the process of being upgraded to dual carigeway and Bansko is just 40km off this road. It is estimated that the drive time from Sofia airport will fall to approximately 90 minutes when the road is completed.
